The OCR Cambridge National in Sport Studies is a practical, engaging qualification that combines sporting knowledge with real-world skills. It develops students’ understanding of contemporary issues in sport, helps them improve performance and leadership in physical activities, and builds the confidence to analyse, evaluate and communicate effectively. Throughout the course students learn about current trends and challenges in sport, gain experience in applying leadership and organisational skills, and make meaningful connections between theory and practice. Assessment includes both external examination and internally assessed coursework, preparing students for further study or progression into sport-related pathways such as coaching, fitness, physical education, sport development or vocational study post-16.

As well as providing a great stepping stone to study sport at Level 3 and other vocational courses. This course develops a range of employable skills in occupational areas. It could help students progress into event management, coaching, personal training and sports development jobs.

Contemporary Issues in Sport (40%)
Assessed by a 1 hour 15 minute external exam, covering key issues in modern sport such as participation and barriers, ethics and values, major sporting events, technology and governing bodies.
Performance and Leadership in Sports Activities (40%)
Assessed through practical and written coursework, where students develop performance in two sports and plan, lead and evaluate activity sessions.
A further unit (20%)
Outdoor and Adventurous Activities.
