Assessment

The course is split into three components: two are teacher-marked coursework projects (internally assessed) and one is a traditional exam (externally assessed).

Component 1 (30%) focuses on children’s growth and development from birth to age five, where students complete a Pearson-set assignment exploring developmental milestones and the factors that influence them.

Component 2 (30%) is another practical assignment centered on "Learning Through Play," requiring students to design and explain activities that help children progress across physical, social, and intellectual areas.

Component 3 (40%) is a two-hour external exam that brings everything together, asking students to apply their knowledge to real-life case studies and show how they would support a child's individual needs.
