GCSE PE is taught through practical and theory lessons. In practical sport you will learn a range of skills and techniques in progressive practices and how they are used in the full context in a range of practical sports. In theory lessons you will learn and apply a range of theoretical aspects associated with sporting performance, to include;
Paper 1 Anatomy and physiology
Movement analysis
Physical training
Use of qualitative and quantitative data
Paper 2 Socio-cultural influences and issues
Sport psychology
Commercialisation of sport

As well as the ideal preparation for the A level Physical Education Course, GCSE PE allows for progression to related vocational qualifications such as BTEC Firsts and Nationals in Sport or Sport and Exercise Sciences. The course develops the transferable and key skills that employees are looking for and can lead to a wide variety of employment opportunities.
