Summary of the course

You will learn more about the main strands of Number, Algebra, Ratio & proportion, Geometry & measures, Probability and Statistics and the interconnections between topics.  Our aim is that you will:

  • become fluent in the fundamentals of Mathematics
  • be able to reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language
  • be able to solve problems by applying your mathematics knowledge

The study of mathematics will also help you to quantify and qualify more precisely which in turn will enable you to communicate more effectively.

What could this course lead to

Mathematical thinking is a vital life habit, essential for navigating the modern workplace, managing personal finance, and making informed daily decisions. As a core qualification, GCSE Mathematics is a non-negotiable entry requirement for most post-16 education and the majority of employers worldwide.
