Summary of the course

OCR Cambridge Nationals Creative iMedia (J834) focuses on the creation and understanding of digital media products. Students study how media products are planned, designed, and produced for specific purposes and audiences, including media sectors and products, audience targeting, purpose and meaning, and media codes. The qualification includes two coursework components, through which students develop practical skills in digital media production, such as creating visual identities, digital graphics, and interactive media, alongside an understanding of pre-production documentation and the media production process.

R093 Written exam
1 hour 15 minutes – 40%
This exam assesses knowledge and understanding of media sectors, media products, audience targeting, purpose and meaning, media codes, and the media production process.

R094 Coursework
Visual Identity and Digital Graphics
Students create a visual identity and digital graphics in response to a client brief, including research, planning, design, production, and evaluation.

Second coursework unit.  
An additional coursework component is undertaken and focuses on practical media production. Options may include areas such as interactive digital media, animation, video, audio, or game-related media products, depending on the chosen unit.

 Coursework comprising 60% of the qualification.
